Summer Reading Program 2026: Unearth a Story
Discover interesting treasures and exciting learning experiences at your library all summer!
The 2026 Youth Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through high school, with incentives, activities, programs, events, and final prizes.
Unearth a Story begins on Saturday, May 30th. Our kick off will include a Dino Bounce House from 1-4pm.
Explore our interactive environment decorated and inhabited by dinosaurs! A special traveling exhibit "Meet the Tyrannosaur" from the Natural History Museum in New York City will be available for viewing as well as "dinosaur bones" to excavate and reconstruct, scavenger hunts to track down, jokes and riddles to reveal and memorize, toys and puppets to play and pretend with and more!
Dig into great books, audio, movies, music, STEAM Kits, and more to take home as well as digital materials to download.
Register as a reader all summer at and track your progress earning prizes and more chances for grand prize bundles at our End of Summer Final Drawings. Every youth who registers receives a restaurant coupon and a One Day Pass to BG City Pool and Water Park! Reading tracking can be done using WCDPL's ReadSquared page.
Participate in a wide variety of programming on our events calendar indoors and outdoors for kids of all ages!
Help the library as a Volunteen! Youth ages 11+ apply all summer in person or online on our Volunteen page.
