Youth Services Assistant (part-time) – Bowling Green.

WCDPL is seeking an outgoing individual to deliver high-quality library services to children (from birth through age 17), and to patrons of all ages.

Are you ready to create a dynamic library atmosphere for our patrons? You are a natural host and helper, knowledgeable on all library operations and respected for your ability to excite our patrons about library services:

  • You share your passion for books and reading by recommending the latest books, movies and music.  You are an avid reader who loves to re-read classics, read new titles, and enthusiastically share these reading experiences with library patrons.
  • You are an explorer; you are out on the floor with patrons as they journey through the library.
  • You help customers sign up for a library card, check out materials, use the 3-D printer or a reference database, download e-books, open and close the library, and so much more.
  • You engage well with others and are passionate about providing an exemplary experience.
  • You are a good listener with lots of patience.
  • You are a team player and think quickly on your feet.  You can juggle multiple tasks at once.
  • You serve as host, role model, and safety monitor – you maintain a safe environment for all those visiting the library.
  • You are a wizard at teaching patrons how to use technology, from e-books to databases.
  • You design and implement library events and learning opportunities that create magical, transformative experiences for children and teens.  You can implement an engaging and high quality story time as well as an intriguing after-school program for teens – all in record time.
  • In front of a group or working 1-on-1, you are a natural-born teacher.  You are NOT shy.

Requirements: bachelor’s degree; successful customer service experience; strong technology skills; knowledge of children’s literature.  Experience in a library or formal classroom setting preferred.
